In an act of faith, Mother Angelica founded EWTN in 1981. Given that she had no experience running a TV company and they had few resources, most people didn’t expect it to last long.
And yet here we are! But even in 1984, when the network had been around for just 3 years, the secular world was already taking notice. 60 Minutes did a great piece on Mother Angelica and EWTN, which you can see below.
