Have you ever seen a religious sister riding an elephant? I know I haven’t!

Sisters Anne and Clare Vandecoevering, two biological sisters who are part of the Sisters of St. Mary in Oregon, rode an elephant Oregon’s Winston Wildlife Safari in 2007.

Although not pictured, they also have another biological sister who joined the same order–Sister Agnes Marie Vandecoevering. How amazing is it that three women in the same family have a vocation to the same order!

According to an article in Catholic Sentinel, the two sisters agreed that “their lives have never been dull.”

Don’t they look so happy and joyful?

Let us try to remember to model their joy. Maybe we can’t ride an elephant, but we can always spread joy to others.

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, “Joy is prayer; joy is strength: joy is love; joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. “
