Thank the Lord for our amazing firefighters!

Pope Francis was about 10 minutes late for his weekly Sunday address on Sept. 1 in St. Peter’s Square, explaining that he was trapped in an elevator for 25 minutes.

In the video below, he first announces the upcoming appointments of 13 new cardinals this October. He then “apologizes for the delay.”

“First of all, I have to apologize for the delay,” Pope Francis begins. “There was a problem: I was locked in the elevator for 25 minutes!”

With a smile on his face, Pope Francis continues, “There was a drop in voltage and the elevator stopped. Thank God the fire department came–I thank them so much!”

Let us pray for the continued safety of our Holy Father!
