Britney Spears said she wanted her recent marriage in a Catholic Church.

However, she claims the church said no.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Spears claims she originally hoped to marry in St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Calif., but COVID protocols closed the church. She also said they denied her request because she is not Catholic.

Spears said she “wanted to go there every Sunday” because “it’s beautiful.”

ChurchPOP reported in August 2021 that the pop singer said she is Catholic and attends Mass. However, no evidence suggested she attended the proper formation the Church requires for becoming Catholic.

According to the post below, Spears appears to misunderstand the Church’s marriage requirements.

Here’s the post below:

The post reads, “This is where I originally wanted to get married during COVID! I wanted to go every Sunday…it’s beautiful and they said it was temporarily shut down due to COVID!

“Then two years later when I wanted to get married there, they said I had to be Catholic and go through the TEST! Isn’t the Church supposed to be open to all?”

St. Monica Church responded to Spears’ claims, saying they do not have a record of her request. However, marriage is a sacrament, so at least one of the individuals marrying must be Catholic.

Secondly, the Catholic Church requires at least six to nine months of marriage preparation. The Catholic Church is universal, but receiving sacraments requires preparation.

Say a prayer for Britney Spears!
