Have you listened to Father Mike Schmitz’s new ‘Catechism in a Year’ podcast?

The new Catechism in a Year podcast goes through the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church with 365 episodes (one per day).

Fr. Mike narrates the episodes and features special guests, including his Bible in a Year co-host, Jeff Cavins.

The show began on Jan. 1 and sat at #1 for 12 straight days. Currently, it holds the #2 spot on Apple Podcasts.

“If your experience was that Bible in a Year [moved your life], and brought you closer and closer to the Lord, The Catechism in a Year – I’m telling you – will put your life – your prayer life, your relationship with the Lord, into hyperdrive,” Fr. Mike said in a June 2022 announcement.

Here’s 10 beautifully inspiring quotes from his new show:

1) “God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life.”

CIY Day 1, Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1

2) “The whole concern of doctrine and its teaching must be directed to the love that never ends.”

CIY Day 2, CCC #25, quoting the Roman Catechism

3) “If we just show up, keep listening, keep pressing play, keep being faithful – we know that the Lord Himself is faithful. He’s going to do something through this journey.”

Father Mike Schmitz, CIY Day 3

4) “Only in God will [man] find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for.”

CIY Day 4, CCC #27

5) “Our human words always fall short of the mystery of God.”

CIY Day 5, CCC #42

6) “Man is made to live in communion with God in whom he finds happiness: ‘When I am completely united to you, there will be no more sorrow or trials; entirely full of you, my life will be complete.’”

CIY Day 6, CCC #45, Fr. Mike quoting St. Augustine

7) “God, who ‘dwells in inapproachable light,’ wants to communicate his own divine life to the men he freely created, in order to adopt them as his sons in his only-begotten Son.”

CIY Day 7, CCC #52

8) “The patriarchs, prophets, and certain other Old Testament figures have been and always will be honored as saints in all the Church’s liturgical traditions.”

CIY Day 8, CCC #61

9) “Ecclesiastical approval of a private revelation essentially means that its message contains nothing contrary to faith and morals; it is licit to make it public and the faithful are authorized to give to it their prudent adhesion. A private revelation can introduce new emphases, give rise to new forms of piety, or deepen older ones.”

CIY Day 9, CCC #68, Pope Benedict XVI’s words in Verbum Domini

10) “God ‘desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth’: that is, of Christ Jesus. Christ must be proclaimed to all nations and individuals, so that this revelation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

CIY Day 10, CCC #74, 1 Tim 2:4
