Please pray for Cardinal Burke!
Cardinal Raymond Burke announced on Aug. 10 that he tested positive for COVID-19.
The 73-year-old founder of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wis. and archbishop emeritus of St. Louis tweeted that he was “resting comfortably and receiving excellent medical care.”
However, Cardinal Burke was admitted to the hospital and is now on a ventilator.
Here’s the tweets below:
Cardinal Burke’s first tweet reads, “Praised be Jesus Christ! I wish to inform you that I have recently tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Thanks be to God, I am resting comfortably and receiving excellent medical care. Please pray for me as I begin my recovery. Let us trust in Divine Providence. God bless you.”
The second tweet reads, “Cardinal Burke has been admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 and is being assisted by a ventilator. Doctors are encouraged by his progress. H.E. faithfully prayed the Rosary for those suffering from the virus. On this Vigil of the Assumption, let us now pray the Rosary for him.”
Here’s how some users responded:
Live Action founder and pro-life advocate Lila Rose responded, “Praying. 🙏🙏”
Another user responded, “Many of us here in the UK who remember His Eminence on his visits, and his kind pastoral nature are praying for his full recovery. Sending love and prayers on Our Lady’s assumption into heaven, may our gentle mother swaddle you closely in her loving arms. God bless.”
This user added, “Right now praying the rosary for him is the only correct response. God bless you, Cardinal Burke.”
This user said, “I pray for the recovery of the Cardinal. And that doctors give him effective treatment. / Regina in caelis asumpta, ora pro nobis. / Sancte Gabriel Archangele, ora pro nobis.”
The English translation from Latin reads, “Queen assumed into heaven, pray for us. Archangel Gabriel, pray for us.”
Another user wrote the ‘Hail Mary’ in Latin.
“Ave, Maria, grátia plena,
Benedícta tu in muliéribus,
et benedíctus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta María, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatóribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Let us pray the rosary for Cardinal Burke! 🙏📿🙏
