Wow! 😱 What a powerful interview!

Bishop Robert Barron published an interview with Transformers actor Shia LaBeouf, who portrays St. Padre Pio in an upcoming movie about the Franciscan saint.

LaBeouf reveals his spiritual journey to Catholicism as he sits down with Bishop Barron for a 90-minute conversation. They cover multiple topics, including prayer, suffering, the Traditional Latin Mass, the ego, and more.

He reveals that he felt suicidal before signing onto movie, and agreed to the role merely to save his career. However, he said God used the movie to draw him to the faith.

LaBeouf said signing onto the movie “feels miraculous” and that “Pio saved my life.”

I know now that God was using my ego to draw me to Him – drawing me away from worldly desires. It was all happening simultaneously,” he said. “But there would have been no impetus for me to get in my car, drive up [to the monastery] if I didn’t think, ‘Oh, I’m gonna save my career.'”

LaBeouf also reveals his experience with the Rosary, the Eucharist, reading St. Augustine’s Confessions, studying the Traditional Latin Mass, and the peace he found after reconciling with his mother.
