Fathom Entertainment will release “Bernadette of Lourdes, The Musical” in theaters from Sept. 28-29 for two days only.
The film, originally captured live in France, made its United States debut during the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the summer of 2024.
The 2025 theatrical release will appear in the French language with English subtitles. Spanish subtitles will also be available at select locations.
According to the website, the musical is “based on historical records from interrogations and investigations by police, district attorneys, and church authorities,” and “focuses on how Bernadette, the poorest and least educated girl in town, bravely faced her skeptics with character, candor, honesty, and a good sense of humor.”
The description adds that “Bernadette’s message remains unchanged: bearing witness is more powerful than seeking to convince.”
In addition to the two-day-only theatrical release, "Bernadette of Lourdes, The Musical" is set to tour the United States in 2026.
Actor Kelsey Grammer will co-produce the U.S. launch of the musical.
“Bernadette is the embodiment of courage in the face of condemnation," Grammer said. "She is unshakeable, innocent, impeccable, beautiful.”
More About Saint Bernadette of Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes first appeared to 14-year-old Saint Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France. Bernadette came from a very poor family.
At the time of the 1858 apparition, Bernadette lived with her parents in a basement; she was not well-educated, and she had not yet received her first Holy Communion. She also suffered from poor health due to severe asthma.
One day, while gathering firewood with her sister and a friend, a beautiful woman appeared to Bernadette at the Massabielle grotto.
Our Lady appeared to her 18 times in 1858.
Saint Bernadette is the patroness of illness, people ridiculed for their piety, poverty, shepherds, shepherdesses, and Lourdes, France.
Pope Pius XI beatified Saint Bernadette on June 14, 1925. He later canonized her on Dec. 8, 1933. This year marks the 100th anniversary of her beatification.
