Singer Bruno Mars recently dropped his song, “Risk It All,” from his new album, “The Romantic.”
The video beautifully centers on traditional marriage, specifically inside Guardian Angel Polish National Catholic Church. (However, the Polish National Catholic Church is not in full communion with Rome.)
Mars features several Catholic images, statues, and even wears a crucifix and an Our Lady of Guadalupe medal around his neck. The entire video is flooded with beautiful Catholic symbolism and imagery.
The song’s lyrics also center on sacrificial, unending love.
Here are some of the lyrics to Bruno Mars’ song, “Risk It All”:
“To hold your hand and call you mine
I'm tryna be your man 'til the end of time.”
“I would swim across the sea just to show you
Sacrifice my life just to hold you.”
One Catholic parish responded to the popular new music video with sound marriage advice for every Catholic couple.
St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona, published a screenshot of Bruno and his bride standing in the church with text over the photo that reads,
“Bruno got you interested in Catholic marriage? Call us.”
The photo accompanies a caption with Catholic teaching on the sacrament of marriage and advice for couples.
Here’s what they said:
“We like the new music video, Bruno. 😉💒
The Church teaches:
“The matrimonial covenant… is a partnership of the whole of life.”
— Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601
Unending love isn’t naïve.
It’s supernatural.
It’s a daily yes.
A daily dying to self.
A daily rising together.
💍 Covenant > Contract
🔥 Grace > Feelings
✝️ Forever > For now
This is Catholic love.”
