What are you doing to grow in holiness this Lenten season?

Several Catholic celebrities are encouraging their fellow Catholics to grow in holiness this Lent after publishing photos of themselves wearing Ash Wednesday ashes.

David Henrie, Mark Wahlberg, Jonathan Roumie, Patricia Heaton, Gwen Stefani, and Raymond Arroyo all published their first-day-of-Lent social media posts on Instagram.

Here’s what some Catholic celebrities said about Ash Wednesday and the First Day of Lent:

David Henrie

David Henrie, known for his roles in Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" and EWTN's "Seeking Beauty," encouraged his followers to pray, receive the sacraments, and live in holiness.

"Today, the Church marks our foreheads with a cross and reminds us that everything turns to dust… except the soul. Except eternity. Except Christ," Henrie wrote.
“Fast. Pray. Give. Go to confession. Lead your family. Kill the sin before it kills you 💪🏼 let’s goooooo!”

Jonathan Roumie and Mark Wahlberg

"The Chosen" star Jonathan Roumie and Hollywood actor and producer Mark Wahlberg published an Ash Wednesday video. They both wore their Ash Wednesday ashes, made the Sign of the Cross, and encouraged their followers to pray.

Roumie also published his and Wahlberg's interview on "Fox & Friends."

"This is all temporary," Roumie says in the video. "Ultimately, we have to remember who we are in God and who he's created us to be. I think, when we're serving Him in our lives with the gifts and talents that He's given us, life ultimately becomes better and more manageable with Him than without Him."

Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton, known for her roles in "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Everybody Loves Raymond," published her annual Ash Wednesday message on X (Formerly Twitter).

Heaton wished everyone a "Happy Ash Wednesday" and announced her upcoming interview on EWTN's new podcast, "Catholics and Cappuchinos." The interview airs on Thursday, February 18, at 4:15 p.m. EST.
