Father David Michael Moses, a popular Catholic influencer, performer, and pastor in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, revealed why he does not regret becoming a priest at a young age.

Father David Michael entered the seminary at the age of 18 and was ordained to the priesthood at the age of 25.

In a video published on Instagram, he responds to a common question he receives:

“Do I regret becoming a priest so young?”

“I was 25 when I got ordained, and at the time, I was the youngest priest in the diocese,” Father David Michael begins. “When I entered seminary at 18, people said, ‘Why not wait and enjoy your life a little first? You can always be a priest later.’"

Father David Michael explains that when you really love someone, “you're willing to sacrifice everything that could be to be with them now because they're enough.”

“Even at 18, Jesus was enough for me,” he said. “I'm so glad I was called young that I had the chance to forsake all I could have been in the world and bet everything on Christ.”

Father David Michael concludes his video rapping these lyrics:

“The world offers money, the world offers fun,
“But there ain’t nothin’ like gettin’ called young.”

“Do I regret becoming a priest so young?
"I was 25 when I got ordained, and at the time, I was the youngest priest in the diocese. When I entered seminary at 18, people said, "Why not wait and enjoy your life a little first? You can always be a priest later."
"But when you really love someone, you don't tell them that you're going to date a few other people to see what else is out there. Then, maybe you'll come back to them later. No, if you really love them, then you're willing to sacrifice everything that could be to be with them now because they're enough.
“Even at 18, Jesus was enough for me. I'm so glad I was called young that I had the chance to forsake all I could have been in the world and bet everything on Christ.
"I'm glad I had the chance to choose Jesus first without tasting what the world could offer. I do it a thousand times over again because when you give up your best years in the world, you get some pretty incredible years as a priest.”

The video was originally published to his personal Instagram page in May of 2025 and republished to his parish church’s page on January 9, 2026.

This priest made Jesus proud by not delaying in responding to his vocation."
Another user said, “This is so beautiful. The world needs to hear a witness like that.”
