On Sept. 10, 2025, conservative Christian commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in an apparent assassination and horrific act of violence at Utah Valley University.
Just a couple of months ago, Kirk, a Protestant and Evangelical Christian-conservative commentator, went viral for his surprising take on Mary, the Mother of God.
During a July 16 episode of “The Charlie Kirk Show” on “Real America’s Voice,” Kirk explained that he believes Protestants do not venerate or talk about Mary enough. He said she “is the solution” to “toxic feminism in America.”
“Mary was clearly important to early Christians,” Kirk said. “Have more young ladies be pious, be reverent, be full of faith, slow to anger, slow to words at times. Mary is a phenomenal example, and I think a counter to so much of the toxicity of feminism in the modern era.”

“But let me first say, I think we as Protestants and Evangelicals under-venerate Mary. She was very important. She was a vessel for our Lord and Savior.
“I think that we, as Evangelicals and Protestants, we've overcorrected. We don't talk about Mary enough. We don't venerate her enough. Mary was clearly important to early Christians. There's something there. In fact, I believe one of the ways that we fix toxic feminism in America is that Mary is the solution.
“Have more young ladies be pious, be reverent, be full of faith, slow to anger, slow to words at times. Mary is a phenomenal example, and I think a counter to so much of the toxicity of feminism in the modern era.”
After this video surfaced, Catholic conservative commentator Isabel Brown also republished Kirk’s words on social media.
Brown wrote in her caption:
“I have no doubt that the sheer attack on and hatred of Mary I’ve seen escalate the past few years even from people of faith has DIRECTLY contributed to the crisis of femininity young women are experiencing today.
“There is NO better example on Earth of a Godly woman embracing her vocation, humbly serving others, exhibiting extraordinary strength in crisis, and loving others with integrity than Mary, the Mother of God.”
