Colombian actress Lorna Cepeda discovered a mole on her back that turned out to be skin cancer. Amid the uncertainty, she chose to trust God and place her health in His hands. Shortly after, she had an experience she couldn’t explain: the cancer disappeared.

Known for playing Patricia Fernández in the Colombian soap opera Yo soy Betty, la fea (I Am Betty, the Ugly One), Lorna Cepeda has not been immune to the pain of illness.

In a recent interview, she shared how she faced one of the most difficult moments of her life: the diagnosis of melanoma on her back.

“It was behind me, on my back, in a place you can't touch, so I never felt it. Only a microphone guy, a sound engineer, told me once in Cartagena—in June 2016, I remember—‘Hey, something’s bleeding here on your back.’ And I said to him, ‘Oh, a mosquito must have bitten me.’”

Without giving it much importance, five months went by—until the person who took care of her children noticed something strange.

“He said, ‘Jefín, what a horrible thing you have on your back.’ And I said, ‘What do I have?’ I said, ‘Take a picture of me.’ He took a picture… it was a disgusting thing, like, it was a mole that was very, very prominent, and it was bleeding and bleeding and bleeding. And I was still thinking, ‘Oh, that must be like a wart.’”

Worried, Cepeda went to the dermatologist. The specialist asked her to have an emergency biopsy, as the mole didn’t look good. Days later, she received the news she feared most: it was skin cancer.

A Prayer from the Heart

After receiving the diagnosis, Lorna returned home. Amid her grief, she approached an image of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and offered a heartfelt prayer.

“I said, ‘My God, Lord, I give this to you. Make whatever decision you want to make. Now, if you leave me here, please let me be healthy. If you tell me I have to go, decide for me, because you make better decisions than I do, and I’ll know my children are going to be okay.’”

Days went by. Cepeda continued attending medical appointments and preparing for treatment with her oncologist when she had an experience that deeply impacted her.

“I said to him, ‘Mocho’—my cat—‘get out of the way, Mocho.’ And there was no one there. And I stayed still, still, still… as if something was saying to me, ‘Stay still!’ And I felt pressure from a hand. I could feel the fingers, the palm… I mean, everything. And I felt something very warm, and I said, ‘No, they’re treating me, I don’t think I have anything left.’ And that’s exactly what happened.”

Although the doctor insisted on operating, subsequent tests confirmed an unexpected result: the cancer had completely disappeared.

“There was no metastasis, there was nothing. It’s completely gone.”

An excerpt from the interview was shared on social media and has already received over 59,000 likes.

In the comments, hundreds of people expressed admiration for Cepeda's testimony and shared their own stories of unexpected healings.

“I was healed by His mercy and without surgery. I had been given up for dead with five metastases. It’s been 16 years—and glory to God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. He continues to perform miracles.”
“I’m a cancer survivor. I had carcinoma with OPD lymph node metastasis—just 3% survive worldwide. Near the end of my treatment, one early morning, I was in unbearable pain, even with morphine. I felt as though someone took me by the hand, and I went on a journey to a beautiful place. I received a healing, protective embrace. Jesus, our God, brought me back. I felt the true love of the soul. Since May 2023, I’ve been in remission. Every day, I live with gratitude. Jesus is with me, and no matter what happens, I know I am blessed.”
“Yes, I completely agree. During a serious health crisis, I saw a saint appear on my left side while I was lying down. He looked at me, then turned his gaze to a painting of the Virgin Mary that I still have. He pointed to it as if to say, ‘Your life is in her hands.’ I owe my life to her and God. Faith truly moves mountains.”

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, pray for us!
