A photo of an alleged Eucharistic miracle recently went viral Facebook.

Parishioners at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Hurlingham, Buenos Aires, Argentina claimed a blood clot formed on hosts after Mass on Aug. 30.

The post claims two men cleaning the church said hosts fell on the floor. The priest allegedly instructed them to place them in a glass and allow them to dissolve. The men claimed the water turned pink and the hosts formed blood clots.

The translated post reads, “This miracle occurred in the parish of St. Vincent de Paul…on August 30. Some hosts fell to the floor, and two men in charge of cleaning the parish informed the priest. He ordered them to put it on in a glass with water until they dissolved.

“The next day, (Aug. 31), they cleaned the parish again,” the post continues. “They searched for a glass and could not believe what their eyes saw.

“‘The water was pink, and at 3:00 p.m. it became thicker with a blood clot. AT 6:00 pm the miracle completed.’

“The priest took the miracle into custody to the Bishop of Morón.”

The Diocese of Morón in Buenos Aires then issued a statement clarifying the incident.

Diocesan spokesman Fr. Martín Bernal said the parish priest did not consecrate the hosts and the incident is “in no way a Eucharistic miracle.”

However, Morón Bishop Jorge Vázquez said “for everyone’s peace of mind,” he began “corresponding an investigation and the analysis of said hosts.”

Diocese of Morón

The Sept. 4 translated press release reads, “Faced with versions of an alleged Eucharistic miracle that would have occurred on August 31 of this year, the Bishop of Morón, Father Jorge Vázquuz, affirms through the testimony of the priest who celebrated Mass that day that it would in no way be a Eucharistic miracle, since the hosts to which the audios and texts refer were not consecrated by any priest, but were dropped before being presented in the offerings.

“These hosts were kept in a plastic bag, and then they were put in water to dissolve them, as is usual in these cases.

“However, for everyone’s peace of mind, the Bishop has already started the corresponding investigation and the analysis of said hosts will be carried out in the laboratory.”
