Father Melson Correa, a priest from San Antero, Colombia, recently reminded the faithful that the Holy Rosary is far more than a decoration — it’s a powerful spiritual weapon.
If you don’t pray it often, his reflection might inspire you to rediscover the value of this ancient devotion and make it part of your daily life.
On his Instagram account, Father Melson lamented that many Catholics keep their Rosaries tucked away in drawers or hang them from their car mirrors, unaware that it is “the most powerful spiritual weapon after the Holy Mass.”
“I don’t know if you can imagine how many battles have been won by praying the Rosary, how many families have been saved through it, how many mothers prayed daily for their children and saw them change because of it. And how many saints have said that praying the Holy Rosary was their favorite prayer,” he said.
Father Melson explained that each Hail Mary “is like a drop of water that wears away sin,” and that each mystery allows us to meditate on the life of Jesus “through the eyes of Mary.”
“Every Hail Mary is a blow against evil. Every mystery is a school of faith. Every Rosary prayed changes your life — and even the course of the world.”
He also reminded the faithful that praying the Rosary daily is like entering the “school of Mary,” allowing her to form and transform us so we can live a deeper, more holy spiritual life.
“The Holy Rosary not only brings us closer to Mary — it brings us closer to Jesus.”
Finally, he issued a heartfelt challenge to all Catholics:
“Are you going to keep letting your Rosary collect dust, or are you going to start praying it every day?”
His message has deeply moved hundreds of people online, many of whom shared how the Rosary has changed their lives:
“I started praying it 13 years ago. No one taught me how, but I can confirm it’s a true spiritual weapon. I believe in the intercession of my Heavenly Mother before my Heavenly Father, and I know she listens to my prayers.”
“Along with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Gospel, the Rosary is my daily nourishment. I can’t imagine life without these beautiful prayers.”
“I’ve been praying it every day for a year, and every time I finish, I feel at peace.”
“I try to pray it every day. I’ve done this for years and keep a Rosary in every purse, so I can pray even on the bus.”
The Saints on the Power of the Rosary
Throughout history, countless saints have praised the spiritual power of the Rosary. Their words echo Father Melson’s message and challenge us to take up this devotion with renewed faith:
“The Rosary is the most beautiful and the most rich in graces of all prayers; it is the prayer that touches most the Heart of the Mother of God. — Pope Saint Pius X
“For the rosary is a very commendable form of prayer and meditation…as we recite these vocal prayers, we meditate upon the principal mysteries of our religion.” — Saint John XXIII
“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.” — Saint Francis de Sales
“Almighty God has given [the Rosary] to you because He wants you to use it as a means to convert the most hardened sinners and the most obstinate heretics.” — Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort
"With this weapon, I have taken many souls from the devil.” — Saint John Mary Vianney (the Curé of Ars)
