Did you know your birthday is important to God and holds special significance?
Father James Blount, a priest and exorcist of the Society of Our Lady of the Trinity, presented a talk at the 2026 Divine Mercy National Conference in Dublin, Ireland.
In the more than hour-long presentation, Father Blount explains the importance of birthdays and how God chooses the day we are born for a reason. He also says the name our parents choose for us also bears great significance.
“Your birthday, you see, and your birth name are very important to God,” Father Blount begins.
“God usually guides our parents to name us. You’re even born on the right day. The day you’re born is very important.”
Father Blount encourages listeners to research their date of birth and “see what saints share that day with you, because that sort of determines—it’s like a sign to you of your life.”
The priest and exorcist then shares his own testimony regarding God’s providential design behind his birthday and the name his parents chose for him.
“In my own life, I was born on July 18th, and there is a priest. His feast day was another day. His name is Saint Camillus,” he explains. “When I got a little bit older, the pope changed his feast day to my birthday. He was a priest like me. He was in the healing ministry like me. He was in the military like I was. Exactly my own life mirrored in Saint Camillus.”
Father Blount also unveils the providential nature behind Saint Faustina’s birth name, Helena.
“Saint Helena, of course, was the mother of Constantine—Constantine the Great, the great Roman emperor. When she went to the Holy Land, she found the True Cross,” he says.
He adds that when Saint Helena searched for the True Cross of Christ, “a light came down from heaven over the spot where the cross was,” which told her its exact location.
“Saint Helena Faustina also saw a light in heaven with a cross. Did she not? She saw the cross in heaven.”
Father Blount again encourages the audience to research the saints the church celebrates on their birthdays.
“You will find on your birthday whatever saints are important for your life. You’ll be shocked at what you find,” he says. “Do you see how the day you were born or the saint you were named for is very important?”
So if anyone ignores, forgets, or intentionally neglects your birthday, know that God cares. It’s important to the Creator who made you. He carefully crafted it, even to the date.
