On July 4th, Angel Studios' "Sound of Freedom," starring Jim Caviezel hit theaters and took the country by storm with its theatrical turnout.
Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ," portrays Tim Ballard, a former government agent on a mission to rescue children from human trafficking.
The film beat Disney's "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," even though it played in 2,000 more theater locations than "Sound of Freedom."
"Sound of Freedom" grossed over $14 million on opening day, generating back much of the initial budget.
ChurchPOP English editor Jacqueline Burkepile sat down with Caviezel and producer Eduardo Verástegui to discuss the film.
"Sound of Freedom" actor and producer Eduardo Verástegui told Burkepile how his Catholic faith influenced his role in creating the movie.
"We're called to be saints. Bottom line. We're called to be saints. How in the world are we going to achieve that with our own merits? Impossible. We're broken. Impossible. But with God, all things are possible.
"Through a sacramental life: We go to mass every day, we go to confession, we pray the Rosary every day, we do spiritual retreats, we fast, we read the bible every day.
"The combination of all of that is what helps us to work one day at a time. One day at a time. Without that, I collapse in one second. We all collapse in one second," Verástegui explains.
Verástegui also stressed the importance of praying the Rosary.
[The Rosary] every day is our biggest weapon. Every day," Eduardo continues. "The family who prays together stays together, and we need to pray together.
"We stop praying and the whole world's going to collapse - the way it has collapsed right now. That's why we need to inspire more people to pray more. Prayers are powerful."
