Do you know someone interested in becoming Catholic? Are you looking for a fun fact to share that might spark their interest?
TikTok creator Lilli K Leggett considers herself a revert to the faith and creates Catholic content to bring others back to the Church, too.
In a recent video, she shared one of her favorite things about the Catholic faith.
“If you’re thinking about becoming Catholic, I want to give you one thing that to me seals the deal,” she begins.
Leggett says that while there are many great things about Catholicism, one in particular, she believes, is the most amazing.
“The Catholic Church is universal,” Leggett states.
It’s worth noting that the very word "Catholic" is derived from the Greek word for "universal."
“If you’re in Illinois or you’re in Florida or you’re in Paris, the readings for that Sunday are the same universally…All around the world, all over the country,” she says.
Leggett adds that one of her biggest problems when it comes to other denominations or non-denominational churches is that they lack universality. It can vary widely depending on the specific church's location.
“The doctrine varies. It’s dependent on the pastor or whoever’s in charge,” she says.
Leggett explains to viewers that while homilies may differ from parish to parish, the Gospel is not subjective.
She also adds another important difference between Catholicism and other Christian denominations: Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.
Leggett adds that the universality of her Catholic faith helped tremendously when she felt homesick in college.
“It gave me quite a bit of peace,” she remarks that her mother and sister were experiencing the same thing when they attended the Mass miles and miles away.
“We’re together even though we’re not physically together; we’re together in spirit. That is so beautiful about the Catholic Church,” she concludes.
Leggett ends the video with a quick, “Love ya! Go to Mass!”

According to Catholic Answers,
“The Greek roots of the term ‘Catholic’ mean ‘according to (kata-) the whole (holos),’ or more colloquially, 'universal.' At the beginning of the second century, we find in the letters of Ignatius the first surviving use of the term 'Catholic' in reference to the Church. At that time, or shortly thereafter, it was used to refer to a single, visible communion, separate from others.”
