The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a statement requesting Catholics pray the Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and make acts of reparation on June 16, this year's Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The request comes in response to the Los Angeles Dodgers' plan to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an anti-Catholic LGBTQ+ drag queen group on June 16.
This group grotesquely mocks and blasphemes Our Lord, Our Lady, and consecrated religious sisters.
USCCB's Request for Reparation
USCCB President Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio of the Archdiocese of Military Services, USA, along with Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York, and Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles ask Catholics to "pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and make an act of reparation—an act offered to the Lord with the intention of repairing the spiritual damage inflicted by sin."
“Catholic Christians traditionally recognize June as the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus," the statement begins.
“This year, on June 16—the day of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a professional baseball team has shockingly chosen to honor a group whose lewdness and vulgarity in mocking our Lord, His Mother, and consecrated women cannot be overstated. This is not just offensive and painful to Christians everywhere; it is blasphemy."
