At 111 years old, Sister Rosario Soto—one of the world’s oldest nuns—has touched thousands on social media with the tenderness and gratitude she showed when receiving a rosary as a gift. Her joyful reaction reflects a life deeply marked by faith, prayer, and inner peace.

Sister Rosario was born on March 3, 1914, and lives in the Convent of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Santander, Spain. She was recently visited by cardiologist Manuel de la Peña, author of Guide to Living Healthy for 120 Years.

The doctor shared his encounter with Sister Rosario on social media, noting that her secret to reaching such an advanced age is the very spiritual life that sustains her daily.

“Sister Rosario is 111 years old…and her secret to such a long life is faith, prayer, and inner peace,” De la Peña said.

In the video, he gives her an antique rosary, which she receives with a radiant smile.

“The best! How beautiful it is! How beautiful it is. And I love it so much. Thank you so much,” Sister Rosario exclaimed.

When asked if she liked the gift, she responded without hesitation: “It is the best gift you could have brought me.”

The cardiologist expressed his joy at meeting her and asked her to remember him every time she prayed the rosary.

“I came with great excitement to see you, and I’m leaving very happy, because you are 111 years old. You are a very well-known nun in Spain—the oldest in Spain, the longest-lived. Remember Dr. De la Peña with the Rosary. Pray for me,” he told her.

The heartwarming video has received more than 12,000 reactions on Instagram, with hundreds of comments highlighting Sister Rosario’s joy and tenderness:
