1) JD Vance was born in Middletown, Ohio on Aug. 2, 1984, making him 40 years old to date and the first millennial Vice President. 

2) JD Vance is a convert to the Catholic faith.

3) He was baptized into the Catholic Church in August 2019 at age 35 at St. Gertrude Priory in Cincinnati, Ohio, by Dominican Father Henry Stephan. 

4) Vance chose Saint Augustine as his confirmation saint, citing his writings as his inspiration.

5) Vance identifies as pro-life and spoke at the 2025 March for Life.

6) Vance is the first Marine to hold the position of Vice President, serving 4 years in the Marine Corps with a six-month deployment to Iraq.

7) Vance is the 50th Vice President of the United States.

10) "Hillbilly Elegy" was turned into a Netflix film and released on Nov. 11, 2020.

11) Vance was elected to the U.S. Senate on Nov. 8, 2022, serving Ohio. 

12) Vance met his wife, Usha, a Hindu, at Yale Law School and married in 2014.  

13) Vance and his wife have three children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

14) Vance received his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, where he studied political science and philosophy.  

15) Vance earned his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School in 2013.

16) Due to his mother's struggle with addiction, his grandparents– James ("Papaw") and Bonnie ("Mamaw") Vance– raised him.

17) Vance’s "Mamaw,” Bonnie Vance, had the biggest influence on his life. She passed away in 2005.

18) While taking the Vice Presidential oath of office, Vance used his mamaw’s bible. She gave it to him in 2003, the day he left for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina. 

19) After serving four years, Vance left the Marine Corps as a Corporal. 

20) Vance earned several medals during his service in the military:
