Hallmark Channel released the trailer for their upcoming movie, “Wedding Every Weekend,” which features a lesbian couple. The network’s decision generated intense backlash, including a petition with almost 60,000 signatures.

Here’s the description for the new movie:

“Nate and Brooke are going to the same four weddings, four weekends in a row. To avoid set-ups, they go together as ‘wedding buddies.’ But what starts as a friendship soon becomes deeper.”

While the movie centers on a heterosexual couple, characters Nate and Brooke attend a lesbian wedding. This is the first Hallmark movie featuring a homosexual couple. The movie airs on Aug. 15.

Hallmark Channel came under fire last year after airing a Zola commercial, also featuring a lesbian couple. Thousands of conservatives petitioned against the ad, and Hallmark pulled it.

However, after pressure from the opposite side, Hallmark reinstated the ad and apologized for the removal.

Hallmark is known for its wholesome family entertainment. However, many conservatives vow to boycott the channel in response to this decision.

One Million Moms, a branch of the American Family Association, petitioned Hallmark, vowing a brand boycott. As of this writing, the petition has almost 60,000 signatures.

Here’s the details of the petition:

“Please do not add LGBTQ movies to the Hallmark Channel lineup. Such content goes against conservative values that are important to your primary audience.

“You will lose viewers if you cave to the LBGTQ agenda. Our family will change the channel and boycott Hallmark – the channel and Hallmark products – as long as the network surrenders to the LGBTQ agenda and airs controversial topics.

“For years, Hallmark was set apart from other channels because it aired wholesome content. Unless Hallmark realizes the mistake it has made by caving to LGBTQ activists’ groups, my family will have no other choice than to boycott Hallmark.”

The network also posted this tweet about the movie:

Hallmark’s full tweet reads, “We are proud of our movie, Wedding Every Weekend. Our priority at Hallmark Channel is to develop a broad mix of content, characters and stories in order to create a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome.”

Another user wrote, “No. You’re lying because not everyone feels welcome anymore. It’s no longer a family network.”

The Catholic Church teaches that people with homosexual tendencies “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity,” but that homosexual acts constitute “grave depravity,” are “intrinsically disordered,” and that “under no circumstances can they be approved.” Instead, “homosexual persons are called to chastity.” (CCC 2357-2359)

Lord, please have mercy on us!
