How awesome! 🙌

The Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves play in the Major Baseball League’s World Series throughout this week. One pastor is using this as an opportunity of evangelization while several games take place in Houston.

Pastor Fr. Paul Felix of the historic Church of the Annunciation in Houston, Texas posted a photo and video inviting visitors to “light a candle and pray for the Astros.” He is opening the church for prayer three hours before each Houston-based game.

The parish’s social media pages featured photos of Fr. Felix giving two thumbs up standing before a banner hanging in front of his church.

The post reads, “Let’s root, root, root for the home team!! The church will be open at 4:00 PM today – come light a candle and pray for our ‘Stros!”

Fr. Felix also posted a video inviting prayer before the games.

“I’m so excited to share with you that the Houston Astros are in the World Series. It’s taking place right across the street…at Minute Maid park,” Fr. Felix begins.

“We have special evangelization effort that we are doing during the games.

“Three hours before the beginning of each of the World Series games that are here in Houston, we’ll have our church open to welcome people to come in and pray for the Astros. (Of course, they can pray for the opposing team as well. But we’re rooting for the Astros here.)”

“It’s a great opportunity for people to come and light a candle, say a prayer, and also of course, our other needs.

“I’d appreciate if you’d help get the word out because it’s a great opportunity for people who may have drifted away from the church to return. Or, people who have never gone to church or don’t know anything about the Catholic Church.

“You can come in and see this beautiful, historic, sacred place–the Church of the Annunciation, here in the heart of Downtown Houston, and be ignited with the fire of faith, hope, and love.

“So I invite you to come and visit, light a candle, say a prayer, if you’re going to the game. But if you know of someone passing this way, tell them our door will be open and we’d love to see them.”

No matter the team you are rooting for, let us join in prayer with Fr. Felix!
