This is very sad!

Saturday Night Live mocked the Texas Heartbeat Act in a disgusting skit that aired on Nov. 6.

Actress Cecily Strong portrayed “Goober the Clown,” who says she underwent an abortion at age 23. (Strong later confirmed that the clown’s story is actually hers.)

The skit begins with a reporter explaining the Texas Heartbeat Act, which “essentially bans all abortions after six weeks.”

However, the reporter then introduces a clown to “cheer us up,” implying their obvious disapproval of the law.

Strong’s primary message is this: “I know would not be a clown on TV here today if it weren’t for the abortion I had the day before my 23rd birthday.”

Abortion “is going to happen,” she adds, “so it ought to be safe, legal, and accessible.”

“So Goober, you had an abortion when you were 23?” the reporter asks.

“Whoa, slow down. I’m a clown. Let’s clown around,” the clown answers.

She then squirts him with water and continues, “I had an abortion the day before my 23rd birthday.”

“It seems you really want to talk about your abortion,” the reporter responds.

“Actually, I really don’t. But people keep bringing it up, so I’ve got to keep talking about…abortion. It’s a rough subject, so we’re going to do fun clown stuff to make it more palatable.”

As she shapes a balloon, the clown continues, “I wish I didn’t have to do this, because my abortion is my personal clown business. But that’s all people in this country want to discuss all the time, even though clown abortion was legalized in Clown v. Wade in 1973.”

“Did you know one in three clowns will have a clown abortion in their lifetime? You don’t, because they don’t tell you.

“They don’t even know how to talk to other clowns about it, because when they do talk about it, if you were a clown who wasn’t the victim of something sad like clown-cest, they think your clown abortion wasn’t a righteous clown abortion.”

The skit continues explaining her doctor appointment, sharing abortion stories with other women, and explains that since she had the abortion, her “life isn’t over.”

She concludes saying she “would not be a clown on TV here today if it weren’t for the abortion I had the day before my 23rd birthday.”

Here’s how some people reacted to the video:

“Sacrificing your child to play a clown on SNL. Not worth it,” Live Action founder Lila Rose said.

“Absolutely disgusting. A clown on SNL jokes about murdering babies and attributes her success as a clown on TV to her ability to have an abortion at 23.

“Our culture has to stop normalizing horrific violence against CHILDREN – the weakest members of our society. It is oppressive and uncivilized.”

EWTN Pro-Life Weekly host Catherine Hadro also addressed the skit.

National Review writer Alexandra DeSanctis Marr also expressed her opinion of the skit.

“Hey [Saturday Night Live], abortion isn’t a punch line,” Marr tweeted. “There’s nothing funny about killing a human being. There’s nothing amusing about women feeling they have no choice other than abortion. There’s nothing clever about donning a clown suit and cheering for violence.”

Catechism of the Catholic Church teaching on abortion:

“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” (CCC 2270)

“Since the first century, the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law…” (CCC 2271)

Please pray for all post-abortive women!
