On Sept. 10, 2025, conservative Christian commentator Charlie Kirk was tragically shot and murdered in an assassination and horrific act of violence at Utah Valley University.
Kirk was on his first stop for Turning Point USA’s “The American Comeback Tour.”
In a video CBS News published on social media, attendee and witness Brandon Russon described what he alleges are some of Kirk’s last words before the tragic Utah Valley University shooting.
Russon says that before Kirk answered questions about gang violence (which is what he discussed before he was shot), he declared “Christ is Lord” and “He defeated death.”
Here is witness Brandon Russon’s testimony:
“I was just standing there, maybe about 15 feet in front of Charlie in the standing crowd. We were just enjoying listening to him answer questions, and before I continue, I don’t think this is being covered. I don’t know if any witnesses have come out and said that one of the last things that Charlie declared before the shot rang out was that ‘Christ is Lord,’ and that ‘He defeated death.’ I just find that very poetic, despite this tragedy. After that declaration, he moved on to the next question, which, during that time, was when the shot rang out.”
