Saint Anne is the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and wife of Saint Joachim.
Although the Gospels do not explicitly mention Saints Joachim and Anne, their veneration grew over the centuries, eventually leading to their recognition as saints in the Catholic Church.
The Church celebrates the feasts of Saints Joachim and Anne on July 26th.
These saints were blessed in their old age with the miraculous conception of Mary, who became the Mother of Jesus Christ. The birth of the Virgin Mary set the stage for the fulfillment of God's plan for the redemption of humanity.
As a faithful wife herself, Saint Anne is naturally regarded as the go-to patron saint for those seeking their future spouse.
Discerning marriage can be a long — and sometimes discouraging — road. Having a saintly companion can be a great help on this journey!
The short, sweet, and ever-popular “Good Saint Anne, send me a man!” can be supplemented with other prayers for Saint Anne’s intercession. Having her prayerful companionship on your journey can fill you with hope and peace!
Below is another prayer to Saint Anne:
O Glorious Saint Anne, you are compassionate toward those in need who invoke your heavenly intercession. Burdened with life’s difficulties, I place myself before you and ask that you assist me with the petitions and intentions I now recommend to your special protection.
(Here mention your requests.)
Place my concerns before Our Lord Jesus Christ, and seek the loving aid of your
daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please continue interceding for me until my requests are granted.
Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day seeing Almighty God face to face, with you and Mary and all the saints, honoring and praising God through all eternity.
Pray for us, good Saint Anne. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Gracious God, who chose Saint Anne to bring into the world the mother of Your only Son. Mercifully grant to us who devoutly honor her memory, the grace of happiness in this life, and the joy of life with You for all eternity. Amen.
