Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire, according to recent reports.

Social media users and news outlets posted multiple photos and videos of the current incident. The cause of the fire is unknown, but reports said it could be due to renovation work.

The French-Gothic cathedral is one of the most well-known churches in the world. It is more than 850 years old to date.

The extent of the devastation is not yet known. However, reports said the central roof and the spire have already collapsed. Bloomberg reported that “Paris emergency services are now trying to salvage the artwork stored in Notre Dame Cathedral.”
