This is a pleasant surprise! 😲
Secular pop artist Nick Jonas and Christian contemporary singer Brandon Lake recently teamed up in a musical performance in Charleston, North Carolina, as they dropped their new Christian single, “The Author.” The song hit the top 10 on the iTunes charts since its May 1 release.
Nick Jonas made an appearance at one of Brandon Lake’s concerts, and the video went viral on social media:
The video's caption reads,
"Brandon Lake brought special guest Nick Jonas onstage in Charleston to perform their brand-new song, “The Author” LIVE! 🙌 🎶"
Here are the lyrics to the chorus of Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas’ song, “The Author”:
“(So) Who am I, who am I
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I - have something (still left) to offer
(So) Who am I, who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author.”

As of this writing, the Instagram video, published by K-LOVE, has generated almost one million views, over 65,000 likes, and about 1,000 comments.
Here’s how some people reacted to the performance:
“On the moooovvvee 🔥,” actor Jonathan Roumie said.
“THIS IS AMAZING!!!” another user wrote. “So many people are going to see Jesus in a different, better way because someone they are familiar with is singing a song about him!”
“I'm so happy the Lord drew Nick Jonas back to Him! This is awesome!” someone else commented.
Jonas has recently become more vocal about his Christian roots. The singer grew up in an Evangelical Christian household, as his father was an ordained minister.
At just 11 years old, Nick Jonas performed the song “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)," which became his debut single through INO Records. After they released this song, Columbia Records signed him and released Nick’s other single, “Dear God.”
In February, the 33-year-old pop artist dropped the album “Sunday Best,” which contains spiritual overtones, but was not released as a Christian album. “The Author” with Brandon Lake is his first official Christian single since he first began his career over 20 years ago.
