Pray for Perez Hilton! 🙏

In a recent video, celebrity gossip blogger and media personality Perez Hilton (born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) announced his intention to return to Mass after experiencing a deeply personal encounter with God during a grueling 21-day hospital stay.

“My stupidity landed me in the hospital, and this is the most important video I have ever shared,” he said.

The 48-year-old celebrity blogger explained that he contracted the flu before entering the hospital and took medications without eating. He said this caused an ulcer. He then developed a perforation, followed by sepsis. These health problems led to the need for surgery. Hilton says he is now home recovering.

In the video he filmed at home, Hilton revealed that he grew up Catholic and attended Jesuit Catholic school, but never actually believed in the faith. He said that through his intense suffering, he encountered God in a way that changed his life.

“One of the most special things about this experience is that God presented Himself to me,” he said. “It was not a feeling.”
“I could only call it miraculous. And I was very lucid,” he continued. “It was real. And this has been life-changing. I’m so grateful.”
“I’m excited to start taking the kids to church every week and just to know that God is real,” Hilton said. “I had my heart open before. I wanted to believe, and I don’t have to hope to believe. I know now. So that’s amazing.”

Perez said he plans to take his children to church every week, take better care of his health, and spend more quality time with his family. He also hopes to put his children in a “nice Catholic school.”

Important Note:

Perez Hilton, who is openly gay and welcomed his children through surrogacy, shared that despite being raised Catholic, he had never truly believed—until this recent experience.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that persons with same-sex attraction are called to chastity, and “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity” (CCC 2358), while also affirming that marriage is between one man and one woman (CCC 1601). The Church also teaches that surrogacy and artificial procreation (CCC 2376–2377) are “gravely immoral.”

Let us pray for Perez Hilton in his newfound journey of faith!
