Pope Francis is calling for a “rosary marathon” from May 1-31 for an end to the coronavirus pandemic. He invites the whole world to participate. More than 30 shrines will pray rosaries for this and other intentions throughout the month.
Pope Francis will lead and livestream the rosary on the first and last days of May. He will kick off the first day at 6 p.m. Rome time in Gregorian Chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica on May 1. He will also bless rosaries during this event, which will be sent to the 30 shrines.
Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization organized the initiative.
The office said they “extended this invitation to all the shrines around the world, in order to promote the diffusion of the initiative in the relevant regions, so as to reach priests, families, and all the faithful, inviting them to join in this prayer of intercession and hope to the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
