Servant of God Michelle Duppong is the subject of a recent documentary from the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS).
Michelle Duppong died on Dec. 25, 2015, at 31 years old after patiently enduring an unexpected cancer diagnosis.
Prior to her death, she served as a FOCUS Missionary for six years at the University of Mary, and then as director of adult faith formation for the Diocese of Bismarck.
Diocese of Bismarck Bishop David Kagan of North Dakota announced the investigation into her canonization at the FOCUS New Staff Training at the University of Mary on June 15, 2022. Bishop Kagan later announced on All Saints’ Day in 2022 that her cause for canonization was officially opened.
A documentary on the life and legacy of Servant of God Michelle Duppong entitled, "Radiating Joy: The Michelle Duppong Story," debuted at the SEEK conference this month and could be coming to a screen near you.
FOCUS explained why they decided to make this film, saying,
“FOCUS is honored to be the petitioner for the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Michelle Duppong at the request of Bishop David D. Kagan of the Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota. As the petitioner, a major responsibility is to make known to the world the opening of Michelle’s Cause and share her story. What better way to relate Michelle’s story than through a documentary film? Michelle led a beautiful and faith-filled life, especially during her suffering. She did little things every day to be in communion with God and to bring others to Him. This film offers a glimpse into her short but impactful life.”
The film took about a year to complete and the official trailer is stirring.
Viewers are given a glimpse of the personal testimonies included in the full documentary. Those closest to her can be heard referring to Duppong as a ray of sunshine. A brief explanation of her death can be heard over a slideshow of pictures showing Michelle’s infectious smile.
The video cuts to footage of the All Saints' Day Mass where Bishop Kagan announces that her cause for canonization was officially opened.

FOCUS said reactions to the film have been very positive and viewers have been moved by Michelle’s example of “daily prayer and evangelization.”
Showings will begin in early February 2024.
As of this writing, three screenings are scheduled:
Denver — Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 pm: Tickets
Washington D.C. — Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 pm: Tickets
St. Louis — Wednesday, February 28 at 7:00 pm: Tickets
Regarding plans for future showings, FOCUS said they "are looking at opportunities for a full theatrical release as well as streaming options. We will announce plans once they are fully established."
