On Sun. Jan. 15, 2023, Nigerian priest Father Isaac Achi was burned to death in an attack on his parish.

Another Nigerian priest recently revealed a shocking testimony of Father Achi’s final actions just before his assassination.

That Sunday morning, a group of bandits attacked the parish residence of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-Koro. The group burned Father Achi alive and shot his assistant, Father Collins Omeh, in the back. The identity of the attackers is still unknown.

Nigerian priest Father Ugochukwu Ugwoke revealed a moving testimony about Father Isaac Achi’s final actions just before his death.

“The remains of Father Isaac Achị, the Catholic priest who was killed by terrorists in Minna last Sunday, will be buried this Friday,” a tweet says.

“As the rectory was under attack, Father Isaac and his associate priest offered each other the sacrament of confession before asking he asked the [Father Collins Omeh] to escape.”

Pope Francis: Pray for persecuted Christians

At the end of his General Audience on Wed., Jan. 18, Pope Francis asked people to join him in praying for persecuted Christians around the world.

“I ask all of you to join me in praying for Father Isaac Achi of the Diocese of Minna in Northern Nigeria, who was killed last Sunday in an attack on his rectory,” Pope Francis said.

“So many Christians continue to be the target of violence: let us remember them in our prayers!”

Eternal Rest, grant unto Father Isaac Achi, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. 🙏
