Visiting the Blessed Sacrament is not a gesture reserved for the “very holy,” but a necessity for all who long to encounter God’s love. In a recent interview, Father Pablo Fernández-Martos explained the importance of Eucharistic Adoration.

On the latest episode of the Catholic podcast Mantita y Fe, now in its fourth season, host Bárbara Bustamante spoke with the priest of the Diocese of Getafe (Spain) about this essential practice for spiritual life.

Father Fernández-Martos emphasized that precisely because we are sinners, we must draw closer to God all the more. He warned that the devil tries to convince us that after sinning, we should hide from the Lord—just as Adam and Eve did.

“And what do we have to do? Just the opposite. When I have sinned, what I must do is bring out Christ, kiss Him, look at Him, and say: ‘Lord, now, from the mud of my sin, the only thing I know is that You love me.’”

This attitude, he explained, allows us to experience a profound change: the certainty that God’s love is greater than any sin.

“Therefore, when I approach Eucharistic Adoration—even though I am a sinner, for we all are—what I do is recognize that God is mercy. He is always much more good than we are bad. And therefore, even though I am a sinner, my true place is prostrate at His feet, imploring Him like the publican: ‘Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.’”

Father Fernández-Martos reminded listeners that Eucharistic Adoration is not a reward for the “perfect,” but a place of encounter for those who recognize their need for God’s mercy.

“We don’t go to the Blessed Sacrament to prove that we are very good, but to recognize that God is very good.”

This episode of Mantita y Fe aims to draw the faithful closer to the experience of Eucharistic Adoration, dispelling misconceptions and demonstrating how this encounter with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has the power to transform daily life.
