Professor Unveils the Hidden Meaning in this Ancient “Immaculate Conception” Painting

There’s so much meaning in this beautiful sacred painting!

Denis McNamara, the executive director of the Center for Beauty and Culture at Benedictine College, launched a new YouTube series called “The Sacred Image“.

The series explores the beautiful symbolism hidden in Christian art, and “how God communicates to us” through this art.

On this episode, McNamara explains the incredible meaning in Spanish painter Francisco de ZurbarĂĄn’s ancient painting, “The Immaculate Conception.”

He explains the many hidden meanings within the painting, including the angels surrounding Our Lady’s head, the meaning of her long hair, the moon under her feet, and two additional symbolic images within the painting.

It’s so fascinating!
